COVID19 - April 9, 2020 - Student Device Update
Posted April 9, 2020

As we continue with our online learning, we are happy to announce that Schoology has been fully functional since April 2nd and is constantly increasing it's stability. We have not been notified of any issues with the system since April 2nd.

We would also like to notify you that our hours of operation for IT assistance will be changing due to the decrease in demand.

If your student did not receive a Chromebook for use during the school closure and you do not have a computer at home for your student to use, we will be able to issue out a Chromebook on Monday and Wednesday of each week from 10AM to 12PM. If you are in need, please email helpdesk@ytech.edu with the following information:

Student Name, Student ID, Program, Parent First and Last Name, Parent Phone #, Vehicle Make, Model, Color and License # (picking up the Chromebook), Date and Time of the pickup as it relates to our availability mentioned above.

Please note all pickups will be located in the parking lot off of Pauline Drive with the flag pole.

If you have a school device in need of repair (meaning it doesn't work at all), you can email the helpdesk at helpdesk@ytech.edu or call 717-741-0820 ext 4357 to get it repaired or replaced.  Support for repaired or replaced devices will be Monday and Wednesday from 9AM to 2PM.

We are excited for you, the students, to be able to continue your learning experience and we want to give special recognition and thanks to your amazing teachers and their efforts in learning new processes and preparing lessons and activities for you. Assignments were released to students on Wednesday, April 1 through our Schoology application that all York Tech students have access to through our website www.ytech.edu . It is estimated that your student will spend 3-4 hours per week for the first two weeks' worth of assignments.

Please be aware that Schoology is working hard to update their systems to allow for the increase of users and productivity on their platforms across the country. Due to this increase, there will be intermittent outages until completely resolved. If you run into this situation, please continue to refresh by hitting F5 on your keyboard, or by right clicking and hitting refresh until Schoology returns to normal. Thank you for your patience as our entire country moves to online learning.

If your student did not receive a Chromebook for use during the school closure and you do not have a computer at home for your student to use, email the helpdesk with the following information:

During these challenging times, we are faced with unique situations. York County School of Technology is providing an opportunity for those students who need a Chromebooks to prepare for our future Online Learning delivery model. Our Administration and staff have met on several occasions to outline what we can do to provide the technology resources to our students that do not have access or to those who were unable to pick up one of the over 400 Chromebooks that we distributed on March 13, the last day YCST was in session. We understand there may still be some of our students who may not have a computer to be able to complete Online Learning activities over the next couple of weeks. Assignments will be released to students on Wednesday, April 1 through our Schoology application that all York Tech students have access to through our website www.ytech.edu . It is estimated that your student will spend 3-4 hours per week for the first two weeks' worth of assignments. If your student did not receive a Chromebook for use during the school closure and you do not have a computer at home for your student to use, you may sign up on https://calendly.com/ytech/student-chromebook-pickup

York County School of Technology has a limited supply of Chromebooks to sign-out, so please only sign up to pick up a device if you are truly in need of a device for your student to complete assignments.
