2020 Graduation Update

Students and Families of York County School of Technology,

We find ourselves in unprecedented times as we navigate through the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Amidst virus concerns, school and business closures, and social distancing regulations, York County School of Technology is committed to conducting a graduation ceremony for the class of 2020. This senior class deserves the very best that we can offer them. However, this will not be easy. Based on government restrictions, we cannot gather 4,000 people in the same building to conduct a traditional ceremony. Furthermore, our venue for graduation is now a COVID-19 testing facility and will not be available. For these reasons beyond our control, the administration of York Tech has decided to celebrate the accomplishments of the senior class of 2020 through a virtual commencement for the first time in school history.

We all share a feeling of disappointment as we think of our deserving seniors not being able to cross the stage to receive their diplomas. However, we are excited to bring you a new event that no other graduating class has ever experienced here at York Tech. We will be reaching out to the 2020 class officers to share ideas and get student feedback. It is our sincere goal to utilize the knowledge and expertise of our students and faculty combined with the technologies within our building to provide York Tech families with a valuable experience. Once again, we greatly value everyone’s safety and protection in these trying times and look forward to sharing this safe virtual event with students, family, and friends as the class of 2020 graduates in a way that is as unique as their individual personalities. More details will follow as we compile input from students and staff. Please be patient as details unfold and remember to save the date! There will be a ceremony starting at 6:30 pm on June 1, 2020.

Thank you for your time and patience,

       York County School of Technology
