CRIMINAL JUSTICE

Do you have what it takes?  Personal responsibility, integrity, and self discipline are needed to be successful in the field of public safety.  Improve your physical training, take fingerprints, and perform first aid.  Make quick decisions while using the Fire Arms Training Simulator, and the Geospacial Information Systems mapping software. This program prepares students for entry level positions in the Criminal Justice arena, specifically, the field of Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services.  Personal responsibility, integrity, and self-discipline will be expected.  Intensive physical training, rigorous academics, and adherence to strict standards of personal appearance are required.


Certifications:  First Aid/CPR, AED Essentials, Infant/Child CPR

Criteria for Admission:

  • Pass a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Criminal History Check. (No prior criminal record of any type)
  • Receive a certification from a physician that the student can engage in a rigorous physical training regimen.

Expectations of students in the program: 

  • Be a good role model throughout the school
  • Practice safe habits at all times
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility and self-discipline
  • Display a positive attitude and give your best effort
  • Be a team player
  • High motivation

Opportunities after High School:

Careers with a high school diploma – Security, 911 Dispatcher

Careers with 2 years of post-secondary training - Minimal low level law enforcement positions.

Careers with 4 years of post-secondary training - Municipal, State and Federal Law Enforcement positions

 

There are several programs that can provide you with ways to earn a college degree in less time and for less money.  One way is through SOAR – Students Occupationally and Academically Ready.  These are free college credits earned while at York Tech.  These are called articulated credits and these can save you time and money.  Please click below to see the credits you are eligible to earn through this program.
