Medical Professions
Overview
Students are required to complete the foundation courses during the first two years at York Tech. The intent of this program is to provide a foundation for these students and to aid students and teachers in choosing appropriate pathway placements that will lead to informed career decisions. The foundation courses cover the following topics:

Nutrition & Hydration
Medical Terminology/Human Body
Rehabilitation & Restoration
Diseases and Disorders
Basic Clinical Skills
Mathematics in Allied Health
Legal & Ethical Issues
Emergency Care & Disaster Preparedness
After completion of the foundation courses, students will have the opportunity to select an area of the field to gain specialty experience during Grades 11-12. They can select from the following courses:

Uniform
Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform. Upper garments (shirts, sweatshirts, etc.) must be purchased through the school's Tech Gear Store. Lower apparel and safety equipment varies by program. The specific uniform requirements for Medical Professions can be downloaded using this link.
Potential Career Opportunities
What to Expect
This is a standalone program that does not rotate with any other programs. Students accepted into it will take Medical Professions courses during all four years at York Tech, with the exception being students who participate in a co-op opportunity during their senior year.
