Applications for the 2026-27 school year are no longer being accepted. (The deadline to apply was Dec. 5, 2025.)
The application window for students entering Grades 9-10 at the beginning of the 2027-28 school year will open at some point in September 2026. Please check this web page for more details around that time.
Students entering Grades 11-12 for the 2027-28 school year may apply for one of our flex programs, which use a separate application process and application timeline.
It is important to note that students are accepted based on merit, NOT by how quickly their application is submitted. All applications submitted before the deadline will be considered equally.
Students preparing to enter Grades 9-10 (i.e. students currently in Grades 8-9) are eligible to apply for full-time high school enrollment. The students must be from one of York Tech's 14 participating school districts. All accepted students must take both academic and technical classes while enrolled at York Tech.
For entrance into Grades 9-10, students must meet the following criteria.
Live in one of York Tech's 14 sending school districts
Receive passing grades in the four major subject areas: English, math, science, and social studies
Have five or fewer unexcused absences during the current school year at the time of application
Complete an online application
Participate in an interview conducted by a representative from York Tech
Complete math and reading placement testing
Complete a Career Matchmaker Questionnaire at York Tech
The application prompts users to select two different technical programs in which the prospective student is interested. One will be marked as the student's first choice, and the other will be marked as the student's second choice.
It's important that applicants understand what to expect if they attend York Tech, so we recommend visiting our Career Programs page before submitting an application. This page helps users access program-specific introductory videos and other key details that will factor into an informed decision.
Read the following paragraphs CAREFULLY to ensure you are completing the application process correctly. Failure to follow the directions that fit your situation may result in the application being rejected.

After the application deadline in early December has passed, there are several next steps that take place.
December and January
Each applicant will visit York Tech during a school day. Students' school counselors will share information about the date and time of the visit with parents and caregivers in advance. The itinerary will include:
Tour of York Tech
Placement testing*
Interview with school staff
*Placement testing is used to assign accepted students to the appropriate classes. It is not used to evaluate all potential applicants.
February
Once the December and January visits are complete, the applicant review process will begin. During the review process, York Tech staff will consider each student's submitted application, grades, attendance, discipline, and the interview conducted at York Tech.
March
At some point in early March, the parent or caregiver of each applicant will receive email communication about the student's application status. This email will include one of two messages:
An invitation to attend York Tech
The student has been added to the waitlist
Parents and caregivers of students who are invited to attend must accept the invitation by completing a form before the provided deadline.
April to August
When spots open, new batches of students on the waitlist will be extended invitations to attend York Tech.
Please direct application questions to York Tech's Student Services Office by calling 717-741-0820 x1501. Prospective students may also visit with their school counselors for more information.
