York Tech Provides Notice of Data Security Incident

The privacy and security of your personal information we maintain is of the utmost importance to York County School of Technology (“York Tech”). On April 5, 2024, York Tech notified certain individuals about a data security incident that impacted their personal and health information.

On April 26, 2023, York Tech experienced a network security incident that impacted some operations. Upon learning of this issue, York Tech immediately commenced a prompt and thorough investigation working very closely with external cybersecurity professionals experienced in handling these types of incidents to determine whether there was any unauthorized access to protected information. After an extensive forensic investigation and document review, York Tech determined on March 15, 2024, that a limited amount of information stored on its network may have been accessed and/or acquired by an unauthorized individual on or about March 27, 2023. The information contained personal and protected health information, including full names, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance information, date of birth, account username and password, and driver’s license number.

York Tech has no evidence that any of the information has been used for identity theft or financial fraud as a result of this incident. Nevertheless, out of an abundance of caution, York Tech is providing notice to the individuals whose information was potentially involved. Notified individuals may take precautionary measures to protect their information, including placing a Fraud Alert and Security Freeze on credit files, and obtaining a free credit report. Where applicable, York Tech is providing credit monitoring services to individuals who have their Social Security number involved. Individuals should also remain vigilant in reviewing their financial and explanation of benefits statements and report any suspicious activity.

York Tech is committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information in our possession and have taken many precautions to safeguard it. York Tech continually evaluates and modifies our practices and internal controls to enhance the security and privacy of your personal information.
