Spreading Holiday Cheer — Last week, students in our Medical Professions program and members of the National Technical Honor Society came together to spread holiday cheer at the Senior Commons at Powder Mill. They went caroling around the facility and were greeted by smiling residents, who seemed very appreciative of the visit! [Photo]
Mock Debate — Ms. Arvelo, Mr. Crabtree, and Mr. Grazuties all teach Civics and Citizenship classes. They joined forces to help students better understand the democratic process by holding a mock debate and election yesterday. Each teacher represented a fictitious candidate, and students voted for one at the end of the debate. We enjoyed watching these Spartans learn about an important civic responsibility! [Photos]
Need to Know
Spirit Days! — Students are encouraged to wear holiday colors (red, green, blue, gold, yellow) on Dec. 18, holiday sweaters and socks on Dec. 19, and pajama bottoms and holiday accessories on Dec. 20. Hot chocolate will be served during lunches on Dec. 20. All other dress code requirements will be in effect.
NTHS Popcorn Orders — Members of the National Technical Honor Society who sold popcorn will need to pick up their popcorn orders during fourth period on Tuesday, Dec. 10. Students will receive a Schoology message regarding the pick-up time.
Coping With Grief — The holidays are often filled with joy, gatherings, and reflection, but they can also be a challenging time for those coping with grief or loss. Click on the link to read a letter from our School Counseling Department, which includes suggestions for how to cope with grief during the holidays. [Letter]
Winter Coat Drive — The Hub is an in-school resource center that contains free clothing and other essentials for York Tech students in need. Donations help to keep The Hub appropriately stocked. Currently, the items most needed are new or gently used winter coats. If you'd like to contribute, please send in coats with a current student or deliver them to one of York Tech's offices during school hours before Dec. 20. Thank you for considering this opportunity to assist our Spartans!
Musical Auditions — Auditions for the spring musical, West Side Story, will be held on Jan. 4. Students who would like to audition must click on the link and complete the form. Difundiendo la alegría navideña — La semana pasada, los estudiantes de nuestro programa de Profesiones Médicas y los miembros de la Sociedad Nacional de Honor Técnico se reunieron para difundir la alegría navideña en Senior Commons en Powder Mill.
