Student Groups

Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Description This group is mainly for students in the Automotive Technology program, but students in other shops may join. Members form teams of five to disassemble and reassemble engines as fast as possible and avoid time penalties, which can be assessed for drops, torque wrench mishandling, improper procedures, and lack of communication. There are national events in Las Vegas and Indianapolis. In addition to the courses listed above, York Tech offers or supports numerous performance opportunities for students to continue their musical studies, such as: Extracurriculars Drama Club Drumline Pep Band Home District's Marching Band Festivals County and District Band County and District Orchestra District Choir Community Groups York Junior Symphony Orchestra York County Honors Choirs Musicians who would like to add a music class to their schedule should contact their school counselor to determine what options are available. As students progress through their careers at York Tech, they are able to take more elective courses, such as music classes. Students can also get involved with music outside of the school day through the extracurricular opportunities listed above. Fall Drumline Description The York Tech Drumline is a music ensemble that plays at home football games and during other school events, such as pep rallies. (Our home football games take place on Saturdays.) Prior music/drumming experience is a plus but not required. Registration begins at the end of May, rehearsals start at the beginning of August, and the season ends in late October. During the school year, the group rehearses on Tuesdays from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.; an activity bus is available at 5:45 p.m. for students needing transportation.
