    < Back PT Welding Instructor Job Type: Part Time Apply Now Job Overview & Description The Adult & Continuing Education Welding Instructor is to provide theoretical and hands-on instruction to students in activities and competencies designed to promote social, intellectual and employment growth. The Welding Instructor will be responsible for conducting learning programs and associated materials for students with the ultimate goal of producing entry-level skilled and employable students. Program responsibilities include the coordination of the physical and instructional resources necessary to successfully deliver all YCST welding programs. The Welding Instructor’s role is to teach a wide range of courses related to this Diploma Program and other courses and classes as assigned. The Instructor shall be responsible for successfully teaching subject matter to adult as well as High School students in the program, on site or at satellite locations, including satisfactory classroom management and record keeping, referring students to, or notifying the Supervisor of issues or problems that must be dealt with administratively. The Instructor is expected to present a professional and positive image personally, and as a representative of the school and its programs. The individual to be hired to the position of Adult & Continuing Education Welding Instructor must meet the following conditions and qualifications: At least three years of full-time related experience and certification in the welding Industry and or teaching experience in welding skill areas. A valid driver’s license Must be technically experienced in the subject matter they will be teaching. Must meet all legal requirements, submit all criminal background checks, clearance statements, and the like, established by law. The Adult & Continuing Education Welding Instructor must have the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations: Assist students to develop skills which will enhance student ability to obtain and maintain employment; Develop appropriate course materials and aids including total written curriculum, lesson plans, instruction sheets, visual aids, and other related materials; Serve as mentor and teacher in the development of specific skills relevant to an industry or course of study; Aid in the selection and ordering of all books, tools, supplies, and equipment. Manage equipment, tools, and other supplies needed to support established curriculum; Update/develop curriculum to keep current with industry standards and trends; Evaluate student progress and develop reports and other feedback materials/assessments Participate in student conferences to develop plans which enhance student learning; Support students in acquiring employment and/or continuing education by assisting in development of resumes and various job search materials; Maintain student and other records; Participate in professional development activities to enhance the classroom environment; Applies the YCST discipline policy to classroom situations; Maintain all safety rules and procedures at all times; Alternate periods of individual, small and large group instruction, theory and practical application to work place situations; Observe all policies as set forth in the Instructor Handbook; Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all tools and equipment; Use proper and accepted instructional techniques to reach adult learners with a variety of learning styles; Be prepared for each class; Present all materials in an unbiased and nonjudgmental way; Maintain classroom control and tidiness; Meet with company representatives to assist in developing and delivering company site-based programs; Recruit, network, and develop outreach and other related tasks to foster program growth; Must be ethical in all decisions, doing what is best for the student and the school; Serve as a role model by practicing the Teacher Professional Code of Ethics as defined by the Pennsylvania School Code; Assume other essential functions as assigned by the Assistant Director of Adult & Continuing Education; Assist in maintaining State and national credentials/accreditation. [Video ] Need to Know Ordering Class Rings — Students in Grades 10-12 who wish to purchase and receive their class ring in time for the holidays must submit an order no later than Monday, Sept. 30. [Letter ] Winter Sports Meetings — All student-athletes interested in playing a winter sport should plan to attend the winter sports meetings during intervention on Oct. 16. The meeting location for each sport will be shared during morning announcements and displayed on the lobby TVs closer to Oct. 16. Students may only attend one meeting, and anyone interested in being a manager should also attend. Before the season begins, student-athletes must turn in a sports physical on the proper PIAA form dated May 1 or later. The forms can be found at the following link.     Drama Club Description All York Tech students may participate in the Drama Club. Members appreciate the arts and get involved in the school’s annual play and/or musical. Students from various technical programs act, sing, dance, run lights or sound, build and/or paint sets, run backstage crew, sell concessions, etc. The Drama Club partners with the Weary Arts Group to produce York Tech's plays and musicals. Below are the themes for each day. Tuesday, April 16 Celebrate Electric Skates Day by wearing a t-shirt with your favorite band on it. Wednesday, April 17 Recognize Super Sea Star Savior Day by wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Thursday, April 18 Wear western apparel in honor of Squirrel Power Day .   • Criminal Justice | York Tech Spartans

    < Back Criminal Justice Overview Do you have what it takes? Personal responsibility, integrity, and self discipline are needed to be successful in the field of public safety. Improve your physical training, take fingerprints, and perform first aid. Make quick decisions while using the Fire Arms Training Simulator and the Geospacial Information Systems mapping software. This program prepares students for entry-level positions in the Criminal Justice arena, specifically, the field of Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services. Intensive physical training, rigorous academics, and adherence to strict standards of personal appearance are required. Students accepted into it will take Criminal Justice courses during all four years at York Tech, with the exception being students who participate in a co-op opportunity during their senior year. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for Criminal Justice can be viewed below. Thanks to pilot Cpl. Charles Law, a helicopter from the Pennsylvania State Police landed near the football practice field. Students in our Criminal Justice program were able to learn more about the helicopter and what it takes to become a police pilot. It was a truly awesome experience! [Photos ] [Video ] Need to Know Conferences — Parent-teacher conferences for the first semester will be conducted from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, 2023. All conferences will be conducted virtually. Registration for the conferences is required and can be completed through Skyward. Upcoming Event Nov. 17-19 — The Play That Goes Wrong [Buy Tickets ] Spartans in Action Super Bee — Gears-N-Grub is a monthly event that allows students in our automotive-related programs to learn more about interesting vehicles up close. This month's visitors were Mike Lewis, a graduate of West York Area School District, and several representatives from Stetler Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram. Mr. Lewis brought his 1969 Dodge Super Bee, which was a huge hit! [Photos ] Guest Speaker — Dave Bauman, a state science advisor with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, visited our Early Childhood Education program on Nov. 2. Part of the presentation included a bridge-making challenge to illustrate several classroom teaching techniques. This activity also reinforced concepts being covered by our Early Childhood Education instructors, Ms. Miller and Dr. Pero. Thank you, Mr. Bauman! [Photos ] New Tool Kits — Last week, our first-year Electrical Occupations classes received new tool kits. The students unpacked the boxes and engraved each piece with their initials. Thanks to the grant with which the equipment was purchased, they will get to keep the kits upon graduating from York Tech. Not only will they have the skills to start a career in the electrical field, but they'll also have the tools, which will likely be a bonus for potential employers! [Photos ] Día de Muertos — Students taking Spanish II with Ms. Lupian recently celebrated Día de Muertos, a Mexican holiday that honors friends and family members who have died. They learned more about the holiday and created colorful altars in honor of loved ones or celebrities who have passed. [Photos ] Field Trip — Students in our Landscaping & Agriculture program visited the Country Club of York on Oct. 30. They transplanted a tree, learned how to mow the greens, and toured the gardens. It was another great hands-on experience for this group! [Photos ] Athletics Updates — Seven York Tech cross country runners qualified for and competed in the District III AAA Cross Country Championships, which were held on Oct. 28. The seven runners were Adam Gaidos, Isaiah Marine, Nicholas Urey, Ryan Bishoff, Kaylee Stimpson, Rhea Flores, and Anna Foster. Kaylee had the best finish by placing 117 out of 237.
