< Back Back-to-School Night All new and returning students and their families are invited to attend Back-to-School Night at York Tech on Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2024 . Attendees may visit during one of two sessions: 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m. During the event, students may walk through their schedules, visit with teachers, and stop by various informational stations. New students will also be given their laptops and Spartan JAM shirts. Prior to arrival, families should review students' class assignments by clicking on the Schedule section of Skyward . The electronic schedule should be referenced when visiting classrooms. Hard copies will be available for those who have trouble accessing Skyward. Please note that all in-person uniform purchases have been discontinued, including during Back-to-School Night. < Back School Store Changes Starting on Thursday, June 1, 2023, York Tech’s school store will no longer offer in-person shopping. Instead, all purchases will be placed online through the store’s website and made available for pick up at York Tech once the order has been processed. < Back Commercial & Advertising Art Overview Students will prepare a portfolio throughout the program to promote their work and talent when they graduate. The major emphasis is on the basic principles of design and elements of art through skill development and exploring different media. Special emphasis is placed on manual as well as computer illustration, layout, composition, and design skills. Students will prepare graphic and advertising projects from the idea stage through to the web/pre-press. The students will be using industry software throughout this course, progressing from basic skills to advanced skills. Possible Certifications Adobe Certification Adobe Certified Associate, Indesign Adobe Certified Associate, Photoshop Adobe Certified Associate, Illustrator Potential Career Opportunities What to Expect Students interested in this program will take courses in Commercial & Advertising Art and Communication Technology for the first two school years. After sophomore year, students will apply for full-time entrance into one of the two programs, and they will be accepted based on merit and other criteria. Students who are not approved for their first choice will be assigned to the other program included in the rotation. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for Commercial & Advertising Art can be viewed below. All items that are hyperlinked must be purchased from the online store associated with the link. Items not hyperlinked may be purchased from any retailer, unless noted otherwise. < Back Youth Wrestling Night Mark your calendar! Youth Wrestling Night will be held at York Tech on Tuesday, Jan. 21, during the wrestling team's meet against Dover. The competition will begin at 7 p.m. All youth wrestlers who represent their home school district by wearing their youth wrestling program's t-shirt will get in free.
