Calendar Reminders July 24 — Sports Physicals [Details ] Aug. 14 — Back-to-School Night Aug. 20 — First Day Back, All New Students Aug. 21 — First Day Back, All Students Featured News National Champion — Members of our FCCLA chapter attended the 2024 National Leadership Conference in Seattle from June 29 to July 3. They competed in multiple events and walked away with four gold medals and two silver medals, including a first-place finish by Hannah Williams! Congratulations to the students and the chapter's advisor, Ms. Mindy Miller! [Photos ] [Details ] Ordering Uniforms — Parents and caregivers are encouraged to order uniforms as soon as possible to ensure they are received before school starts. Uniform requirements for each program can be found by visiting ytech.edu/career-programs , clicking on a program name, and downloading the document located in the uniform section. Uniforms for technical program classes can be purchased through the School Store, while general York Tech gear can be purchased through the Fan Shop or the School Store. [School Store ] [Fan Shop ] Need to Know 2024-25 Required Forms — Parents and caregivers should log into Skyward and complete the required back-to-school forms, which are highlighted in yellow on this screenshot . At least one other required form will be made available closer to the start of school. [Skyward ] Musicians Needed — The York Tech drumline is looking for enthusiastic musicians for the fall season. Prior music experience is a plus but not required. Rehearsals start in August. Click the link below to view the rehearsal schedule and sign up for the group. Please complete the sign-up form by July 20. [More ] Vaccine for Seniors — Rising seniors must submit a record of receiving the meningococcal vaccine (MCV4) after turning 16, as required by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Documentation of the vaccine should be sent to the school nurse as soon as possible. Digital copies may be emailed, while hard copies can be dropped off in the high school office. Please contact the nurse with questions. [Email Nurse ] 2024-25 Calendar Updates — Revisions to the 2024-25 school calendar were approved during the Joint Operating Committee meeting on May 30. The changes affected three days: April 17, April 25, and May 2. Parents and caregivers should discard previous versions of the calendar and click the link below to access the latest version. < Back Athletics Highlights The varsity football team faced off against Columbia on Sept. 6. Our Spartans bested the Crimson Tide by a final of 20-19. The victory improved the team's record to 2-1. The boys' and girls' cross country teams competed in the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7. Members of both squads ran their best races of the season, setting personal records by about a minute and a half for this 5k course. News & Notes Accessing Schoology — Schoology is an academic resource for parents and caregivers that allows them to see students’ course assignments, communicate with teachers, and more. First-time users should visit our Resources page and scroll down to the Schoology Help section for instructions on how to obtain a Schoology access code. PSAT for Juniors — The Preliminary SAT test will be offered at York Tech on Wednesday, Oct. 11. All juniors are eligible to take the test, but they must sign up in the Student Services Department with Ms. Lofland by Wednesday, Sept. 13. (Juniors enrolled in AP/IB/Honors English are automatically signed up to take the PSATs.) Students should contact their school counselor with questions. Soccer Preview — We recently visited a preseason practice to see how our boys' and girls' soccer squads are shaping up. Both teams, which are co-sponsored by York Tech and York Country Day School, appear to be poised for solid seasons! XC Attends Race — Members of our cross country team attended The Arc of York County’s annual Rail Trail 10-Miler on Saturday, Aug. 26. One group distributed water to runners, while another competed in the race. Congratulations to Kaylee Stimpson and Adam Gaidos for earning medals, and thank you to everyone who represented York Tech at the event! [Photos ] Scholarship Opportunity — Current juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the TechLink Dual Enrollment Scholarship. Recipients will be able to take two free dual-enrollment courses through Harrisburg Area Community College. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 10, 2023. More details can be found at this link . Donations Needed — The Hub is a resource center at York Tech that contains free clothing, school supplies, and other essentials for students in need. Donations help to keep The Hub stocked. Nov. 22, 2024 — Holiday Food Drive Donations Due Dec. 4, 2024 — ASVAB Sign-Up Deadline Dec. 6, 2024 — Graduation Announcements Order Deadline Holiday Food Drive The United for Change and Diversity Club is accepting donations for its holiday food drive. Students are encouraged to drop off nonperishable food items in their English classrooms by Friday, Nov. 22. ASVAB Sign-Up Deadline The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test will be administered on Dec. 12. The ASVAB provides students with information to assist them in making career decisions and is available to students in Grades 10-12. Students planning to take the ASVAB must sign up in the School Counseling Office and return a signed permission slip by Dec. 4. Seats are limited.
