< Back Summer Hours Starting the week of June 2, 2024, and lasting through Aug. 2, 2024. York Tech's high school operating hours will be limited during the summer break. Staff in the high school office will be available Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m.-3 p.m. to issue work permits and assist with other requests. Offices will be closed to visitors on Fridays. All visitors must enter through door #1, which faces Pauline Drive. - Prom 2025
< Back Prom 2025 When and Where This year’s prom dance will take place at the Wisehaven Event Center from 6-9 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025. Seniors and juniors are invited to attend the event. Ticket Sales Seniors and juniors will be able to purchase tickets for themselves and their guests starting on Monday, March 24. The last day to purchase tickets will be Friday, April 11*. All tickets will cost $55 per person. TICKETS LINK : ycst.info/promtix25 (Link will be active starting March 24) *If demand is higher than expected, ticket sales may be discontinued before April 11 to remain within the event center’s occupancy limitations. Please purchase tickets as soon as possible to avoid any issues. Seating Arrangements Students who purchase tickets will sign up for table seating arrangements in the cafeteria during all lunches from Tuesday, April 22, to Friday, April 25. Some tables seat eight, while others seat 10. One person can sign up the entire table at one time. Please come prepared with a list of first and last names. Entering the Dance After making an online purchase, no physical or digital ticket will be issued. However, students must retain their receipt and present it at the door as proof of purchase. The name of each student for whom a ticket is purchased will be recorded and used to verify attendance eligibility on the day of the dance. Dance Guests All non-York Tech dance guests must be pre-registered by using this form . The completed form should be turned into the high school office before a ticket is purchased for the individual. Guests age 21 or older are not permitted to attend prom. Theme and Dress This is a formal event, and students are required to dress in formal attire. Jeans and hats will not be permitted. The theme of the event will be Once Upon a Time . Wisehaven Event Center requires shoes to be worn at all times. Students are encouraged to bring comfortable shoes for the dance floor, if they are unable to dance in their formal shoes. Ballroom Closet York Tech students in need of dance attire may visit the Ballroom Closet, located in The HUB, during intervention periods and before homerooms from April 16-25. Gowns, suits, and men’s and women’s shoes will be available. All items are free of charge. Dinner Dinner will include a buffet-style meal and dessert bar. < Back Course Scheduling Overview Students in Grades 9-11 watched an important presentation about 2026-27 course scheduling and received their permanent transcript, the Course Request Form, and a parent letter on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026. (Students who were absent and missed the scheduling presentation can pick up their scheduling items during their next A1 class period on Monday, March 2, 2026.) < Back Culinary Arts Overview Students in the Culinary Arts program will learn to chop, filet, and create exciting cuisine every day as they experience the fast-paced culinary industry. Students gain valuable restaurant experience by cooking for the student-run Spartan Inn and providing food for large groups and events. The curriculum also includes popular units about baking breads, cakes, and pies, which gives students the leeway to experiment with confections and chocolate. In addition, this program covers other industry essentials, such as food safety. Students accepted into it will take Culinary Arts courses during all four years at York Tech, with the exception being students who participate in a co-op opportunity during their senior year. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for Culinary Arts can be viewed below. Additionally, we recognized employees who recently reached noteworthy service milestones. Afterward, the entire staff enjoyed a catered lunch before the start of summer break. < Back Early Childhood Education Overview This program is designed and delivered to develop future educators with the foundations and background to begin a successful career in the childcare industry and related fields. The curriculum focuses on the basic principles of educational psychology, art of teaching, planning and administration of educational activities, school safety and health issues, social foundations of education, child development, and developmentally appropriate educational strategies for infants through preschool. Students also earn some of the 480 hours of training required to apply for a Child Development Associate Credential. Scroll down to the What to Expect section for more information. These courses focus on the basic principles of educational psychology, art of teaching, planning and administration of educational activities, school safety and health issues, social foundations of education, and child development. Upon completion of sophomore year, students will apply for entrance into either Early Childhood Education or K-12 Teacher Development, and they will be accepted based on merit and other criteria. Students who are not approved for their first choice will be assigned to the other program. Students who enter the Early Childhood Education pathway will focus on developmentally appropriate educational strategies for infants through preschool. Students in the K-12 Teacher Development pathway will focus on developmentally appropriate educational strategies for kindergarten up to Grade 12. Students also earn some of the 480 hours of training required to apply for a Child Development Associate Credential or a School-Age Professional Credential.
