The annual Open House will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14. Prospective students and their families are invited to stop by from 6-8 p.m. and learn more about our 26 technical programs, academics, extracurricular activities, adult education options, and more. Program instructors and current students will be available to answer questions. We hope to see you on Thursday! Cross Country All-Stars — Congratulations to the five York Tech student-athletes who earned YAIAA Division III cross country postseason honors: Nicholas Urey (runner of the year), Adam Gaidos (all-star), Reid Paraget (all-star), Jaice Wise (all-star), and Isa Waight-Alvarado (all-star). Copies can be downloaded by logging into Skyward, selecting Portfolio, and clicking the download icon next to the appropriate file. [Skyward ] Holiday Food Drive — The United for Change and Diversity Club is accepting donations for its holiday food drive. Students are encouraged to drop off nonperishable food items in their English classrooms between now and Nov. 22. Last year, the food drive provided meals to 15 different families because of Spartan Nation’s generosity and support! ASVAB Testing — The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) test will be administered on Dec. 12. The ASVAB provides students with information to assist them in making career decisions and is available to students in Grades 10-12. Students planning to take the ASVAB must sign up in the School Counseling Office and return a signed permission slip by Dec. 4. Seats are limited. Please see Ms. Kasten in the Student Services Office for more information. Graduation Announcements — Parents and caregivers of seniors, who wish to purchase graduation announcements through the Student Services Company, must submit orders by Friday, Dec. 6. - Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing | York Tech Spartans
< Back Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing Overview This program covers areas associated with engineering, such as civil engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, electromechanical instrumentation, industrial production, and mechanical engineering. Students learn about electrical circuitry, electronic digital and microprocessor applications, high and low voltage applications, instrumentation calibration, prototype development, systems analysis and maintenance, CAD/CAM, fluid power, manufacturing systems, principles of mechanics, properties of materials, and more. Possible Certifications General Industry Siemens Level 1 OSHA Certification Potential Career Opportunities What to Expect Students interested in this program will take courses in Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing and Precision Machining Technology for the first three marking periods. After the third marking period, students will apply for full-time entrance into one of the two programs, and they will be accepted based on merit and other criteria. Students who are not approved for their first choice will be assigned to the other program included in the rotation. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for Engineering & Advanced Manufacturing can be viewed below. All items that are hyperlinked must be purchased from the online store associated with the link. Items not hyperlinked may be purchased from any retailer, unless noted otherwise. - Computer Programming & Interactive Media | York Tech Spartans
< Back Computer Programming & Interactive Media Overview Students in this program explore many technical skills, which are needed to create interactive software that solves practical problems. Students will learn what it takes to develop complete web applications before choosing to specialize in more advanced technologies, such as firmware development, game design, advanced robotics, artificial intelligence, and Internet of Things (IoT). The curriculum begins by covering HTML, CSS, and basic Javascript. Students progressively improve their skills by creating static web pages; handling logic and algorithms in Python; and creating advanced web applications using Node.js, Express.js, and SQL. They also learn the critical skills necessary to manage large team projects through the use of relevant technologies and techniques, such as Git and Agile development.
