  • HVAC | York Tech Spartans

    < Back HVAC Overview York Tech's Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) program is HVAC Excellence Accredited . The program's curriculum trains students to identify and safely use power and hand tools to complete hands-on projects. They advance to learning the materials and equipment of the field while completing more challenging installation jobs. Students receive instruction on electricity, electrical components and controls, and the technical aspects of HVAC, which include proper installation, setup, service, and troubleshooting of residential and commercial heating and cooling systems. Possible Certifications HVAC Excellence Employment Ready Exams S/P2 Construction OSHA 30-Hour Certification Employability Skills Heartsaver CPR Advanced Cardiac Life Support for EMT EPA 608 Refrigerant Recovery Potential Career Opportunities What to Expect Students interested in this program will take courses in Carpentry, Construction Trades, Electrical Occupations, and HVAC for the first marking period. After the first marking period, students will apply for full-time entrance into one of the four programs, and they will be accepted based on merit and other criteria. Students who are not approved for their first choice will be assigned to one of the other three programs included in the rotation. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for HVAC can be viewed below. All items that are hyperlinked must be purchased from the online store associated with the link. Items not hyperlinked may be purchased from any retailer, unless noted otherwise. Until then, York Tech apparel or Fan Shop apparel should be worn. More information about the rotation is available in the What to Expect section. **Some items sold in the Fan Shop, such as hats, may not be worn during school. Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code.

  • FAFSA Nights

    < Back FAFSA Nights Overview Current York Tech seniors and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend one of two in-person FAFSA financial aid completion nights. These sessions are geared toward York Tech seniors who plan to attend college and would like to apply for financial assistance from the federal government. Both events will be held in York Tech's Media Center on the following dates and times: Dates FAFSA Night #1 Nov. 19, 2025, 6 p.m., Media Center (Register by Nov. 14) FAFSA Night #2 Dec. 17, 2025, 6 p.m., Media Center (Register by Dec. 12) Registration Space is limited, so those interested in attending must register in advance by the aforementioned deadlines. Registration can be completed using the links above, or students can register in the School Counseling Office during school hours. Please note that one student and one parent or caregiver must attend the event, and attendance is limited to one of the two events. Pre-Event Preparation Computers will be provided during each session. However, attendees must bring their unique FSA (Federal Student Aid) ID in order to complete the FAFSA application. Those without an FSA ID should create one at least three days prior to the event using the Federal Student Aid website . (Creating it at least three days in advance will allow enough time for the FSA ID to appear in the student aid database.) Additional Help Those unable to attend one of these events are encouraged to watch a video recording of the Oct. 23 PHEAA webinar . During this meeting, a PHEAA representative discussed the financial aid application process, types of aid available to students, and strategies for affordability.
