They competed in multiple events and walked away with 10 gold medals, 14 silver medals, 1 bronze medal, and 17 nationals invitations! Those who qualified for nationals will compete in the 2025 National Leadership Conference, which will be held over the summer in Orlando. Way to go, Spartans! [Winners List ] [Photos ] Students of the Month — Congratulations to our students of the month for April: Jacob Combs, Linley Dewease, and Zain Seredych. We really enjoyed recognizing these students during Thursday's Joint Operating Committee meeting! [Video ] Need to Know Last Days — The last school day for seniors will be Thursday, May 15 . Please review the updated senior letter for other important dates, such as the senior trip and mandatory graduation practices. The last school day for students in Grades 9-11 will be Wednesday, May 21 . The final two days of school for Grades 9-11, May 20-21, will be early dismissals for students at 1:30 p.m. Soccer Coaches Needed — York Tech and York Country Day School partner to offer soccer teams for students of both schools. The girls’ and boys’ soccer teams are in need of coaches for the 2025-26 school year. Potential applicants should contact York Country Day School’s athletics director, Uriah Goldfinger, at ugoldfinger@ycds.org . Health Screening Results — Parents and caregivers can now check students’ health screening results in Skyward . Questions should be directed to Ms. Melhorn in the Nurse’s Office at 717-741-0820 x5124. Library Books Due — Library book checkout is now finished for the school year. All library books are due back to the Media Center by May 9. Students with questions should visit the Media Center and speak with Ms. Robinson. Transcripts for College — Seniors who have been accepted into college should visit the School Counseling Office to inform Ms. Kasten. This information is needed, so final transcripts can be sent over the summer. Physicals for Juniors — Students in Grade 11 are required to have a physical during their junior year. York Tech will be offering free in-school physicals on Thursday, May 1 . Parents and caregivers who are interested in having their York Tech junior receive a physical through the school should notify the nurse by calling 717-741-0820 x5124 as soon as possible. Those who have already submitted physical paperwork or notification of a child's physical do not need to contact the nurse. Summer Communication — Once the school year is over and summer break begins, the Spartan Review will be distributed on an as-needed basis when there is new or important information to share. His first-year and second-year students were creating metal mounting brackets that involved using a drill press, angle grinder, and other tools. Between the flying sparks and the classmate collaborations, it was a fantastic learning environment! [Photos ] Athletics Updates — Field hockey defeated Delone Catholic on Monday, Sept. 11, to improve the team’s record to 3-1. Later the same day, girls’ volleyball bested Lancaster McCaskey by one set in a lengthy match. Additionally, on Thursday, Sept. 14, the girls’ cross country team earned its first win over Delone Catholic in ten years, and girls’ tennis outlasted Biglerville by a final of 4-1. Go, Spartans! Scholarship Opportunity — Current juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the TechLink Dual Enrollment Scholarship. Recipients will be able to take two free dual-enrollment courses through Harrisburg Area Community College. Applications must be submitted by Oct. 10, 2023. This page includes a list of answers to frequently asked questions that will assist those interested in applying to York Tech. Who is eligible to attend York Tech? High school students in Grades 9-12 are eligible to attend York Tech, provided they reside in one of the 14 participating school districts.(https://www.ytech.edu/participating-districts) However, full-time admissions are limited to students entering Grades 9-10 (i.e. students currently in Grades 8-9). Full-time and part-time Flex Programs (https://www.ytech.edu/flex-programs)are available to students in Grades 11-12 who have not previously attended York Tech. What makes York Tech so unique? Much like a traditional high school, each student takes traditional academic courses. Unlike other public schools, our students also take courses related to one of 25 career programs (https://www.ytech.edu/career-programs)and work toward receiving industry-recognized certifications. This combination of traditional academics and technical training gives York Tech graduates the flexibility to pursue postsecondary education or enter directly into the workforce or military with a leg up on the competition. Does it cost anything to attend York Tech? Students do not pay a fee to attend. All tuition costs are covered by the sending school districts. Students must purchase and wear uniforms that comply with industry standards while attending York Tech. Other items may be required in technical areas if they are used on a regular basis. What are my options after graduating from York Tech? York Tech prepares students to be college and career ready. About half of York Tech graduates continue their education at four-year colleges, two-year colleges, or technical schools. The other half enters directly into the workforce or the military. Are there extracurricular activities and clubs? York Tech offers a wide variety of activities and organizations for students, such as a full offering of athletics.(https://www.ytech.edu/teams) Additionally, the following extracurricular opportunities and clubs are available. - Homecoming 2024
< Back Homecoming 2024 Date & Time This year’s homecoming dance will be held at York Tech from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5. The homecoming football game will be held on the same day at 10 a.m. against Bermudian Springs in York Tech’s stadium. Attendance & Tickets All York Tech students are invited to attend, but only juniors and seniors will be permitted to attend the dance with outside guests. Tickets will be sold from approximately Sept. 6-20. The sales link will be posted below in the near future. Tickets will cost $20 per person. TICKET SALES LINK: Sales Have Ended (The sales page will appear blank until it is live.) After making an online purchase, no physical or digital ticket will be issued. However, students must retain the electronic receipt and present it at the door as proof of purchase. The name of each student for whom a ticket is purchased will be recorded and used to verify attendance eligibility on the day of the dance. Outside Guests All non-York Tech dance guests must be pre-registered by submitting this form . The completed form should be turned into the high school office before a ticket is purchased for the individual. Visit the high school office for a printed copy of the form. Theme and Dress The theme of the dance will be A Night at the Movies . This is a semi-formal event, and students should dress accordingly. Jeans and hats will not be permitted at this event. Ballroom Closet York Tech students in need of dance attire may visit the Ballroom Closet, located in The HUB, on A-days during homeroom starting the week of Sept. 23 and during intervention periods on Sept. 25 and Oct. 2. Gowns, suits, and men’s and women’s shoes will be available. All items are free of charge. Dinner Food trucks, such as Killer Eats, SoCo Tacos, Premium Shaved Ice, and On My Grind Coffee, will be on campus selling food from 6 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Students will have the option to pay for food from these vendors. Light refreshments will also be available at no charge. < Back Powersports & Engine Technology Overview Powersports & Engine Technology offers students many opportunities for hands-on training with motorized equipment and related accessories, such as motorcycles, ATVs, UTVs, marine outboard engines, jet skis, trailers, outdoor power equipment, and fork lift trucks. The curriculum focuses on several key areas, including maintenance, engine rebuilds, clutches, drivelines, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, tires, and brakes. The program’s shop houses the latest equipment to help students obtain transferable skills through hands-on learning. Powersports & Engine Technology also offers a unique opportunity for individual growth with the Motorsports Tech Club. This club allows students to run a small business by doing repair work and restorations for real clients. These interactions give club members opportunities to practice customer service, which is a huge asset when entering the workforce. Refurbished units are sold at ycst.info/powersports-sales . Students accepted into it will take Powersports & Engine Technology courses during all four years at York Tech, with the exception being students who participate in a co-op opportunity during their senior year. Careers Uniform Students at York Tech are required to wear a uniform at all times. While in their shop classes, they must wear the uniform designated by the program instructor. At all other times, students may wear their shop uniform OR York Tech apparel, which is sold through the School Store and the Fan Shop . Please review the Student Handbook for a full explanation of the dress code. The specific uniform requirements for Powersports & Engine Technology can be viewed below.
