[More ] Keystone Exams — Keystone Exams will be administered to York Tech students May 13-16, and make-up exams will be taken May 17 and May 20-22. All students in Grades 9-12, regardless of testing status, will report to school at normal time on the aforementioned dates and head directly to the classrooms or technical areas already communicated to them. [More ] Physicals for Juniors — Students in Grade 11 are required to have a physical during their junior year. York Tech will be offering free physicals on Thursday, April 25. Parents and caregivers who are interested in having their junior receive a physical through the school should notify the nurse at 717-741-0820 x5124 as soon as possible. Those who have already submitted physical paperwork or notification of a child's physical do not need to contact the nurse. Spartans in Action Community Service — Students in the Clay E. Givler chapter of the National Honor Society visited York Township Park and surrounding areas on April 18. They collected trash to help maintain these beautiful recreational spaces. [Article ] HROT in Cleveland — York Tech's three Hot Rodders of Tomorrow (HROT) teams attended the Piston Power Show in Cleveland from April 5-7. While there, Red Team lowered its qualification time for nationals from 23:02 to 19:42, and Blue Team lowered its time from 21:57 to 19:50. [Photos ] Athletics Updates — Varsity softball defeated Fairfield on Monday, April 15, by the score of 9-6. The squad was led by Mandy Estes’ two home runs and Raelyn Kelley’s quality pitching. Varsity baseball upended Hanover 3-2 on April 16 after breaking up a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning. The boys’ varsity tennis team was also in action on April 16, and it swept all five matches against Dover. Varsity baseball, varsity softball, and unified track all earned victories on April 17. Finally the boys’ and girls’ track teams capped the week on Thursday, April 18, by defeating Bermudian Springs with final scores of 106-44 (boys) and 79-71 (girls).     < Back Welding Teacher Job Type: Full Time Apply Now Job Overview & Description General Description: The Welding Teacher will be responsible for teaching high school students the skills and theory in the welding and metal fabrication curriculum Required Qualifications : The individual to be hired to the position of Welding Teacher must meet the following conditions and qualifications: PA CTE Teaching Certification in Welding strongly preferred. Noncertified candidates must have at least four years of full time (or equivalent) work experience within the field after their high school graduation date. Candidates not possessing PA teaching certification must be willing to complete required college coursework and testing requirements to obtain full certification. Evidence of completion of a formal welding training program strongly preferred. Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication supplies, equipment, and safety guidelines. Ability to communicate with a diverse group of students, parents, coworkers, and the community in a manner which demonstrates dignity and respect. The School reserves the right to excuse any applicant from meeting one or more of the listed qualification requirements, provided the applicant possesses other qualifications in addition to the minimum set forth herein, and that the School deems those qualifications to be an adequate and acceptable substitute for the particular qualification(s) not possessed by the applicant. Key Responsibilities: The Welding Teacher must have the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations: Instruct students in grades 9—12 in various aspects of welding and metal fabrication including but not limited to gas, arc, shielded and non-shielded metal arc, MIG and TIG, brazing, flame cutting and plastic welding. Hand, semi-automatic, and automatic welding processes components are included. Teach safety practices and types and uses of electrodes and welding rods; properties of metals; blueprint reading; electrical principles; welding symbols and mechanical drawing; use of equipment for testing welds by ultrasonic methods and destruction and hardness testing; use of manuals and specification charts; use of portable grinders and chemical baths for surface cleaning; positioning and clamping; and welding standards established by the American Welding Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Bureau of Ships. Create and implement lesson plans conforming to school requirements for content and/or format. Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grade reports as required. Create a positive environment conducive toward learning. Work cooperatively with other staff members and promote a cohesive team-based approach to the program and curriculum. Contact parents or guardians when necessary. Develop connections with local businesses and outside organizations to promote internships, sponsorships, and/or job placement. Attend school functions as required. Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator Physical/Environmental Demands: School and shop environment. Potential exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, chemicals, smoke, loud noises, and unpleasant odors. Being a member of this organization is an honor and provides students with opportunities to further develop these characteristics.
