< Back Two-Hour Delay on Jan. 22 Due to ongoing weather concerns, York Tech’s high school and Adult and Continuing Education Center will operate on a two-hour delay schedule for Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2025. The high school's two-hour delay schedule can be found at ycst.info/schedules24-25 by scrolling down to the third page. Buses will pick up students two hours after their normal pick-up times. Breakfast will be served. Custodial, maintenance, and food service employees should report at their normal times. All other staff members should arrive two hours after their regular start times. OAC Dinner — Occupational Advisory Committees (OACs) help us maintain curricula that adhere to industry standards. The committee members enjoyed a dinner cooked by our Culinary Arts students and held biannual meetings on Sept. 27. Thank you to the OAC members for their dedication to Spartan Nation! [Photos ] Environmental Science — There are several areas on our property reserved for native plants, and they are managed by Mr. Barton's Environmental Science classes. Athletics Updates — Girls’ tennis earned back-to-back victories this week by defeating Littlestown (5-0) and Hanover (3-2). Additionally, the field hockey team continued its hot streak and improved to 8-3-2 after downing Dover on Sept. 28. Also, the junior high football team beat James Buchanan by a score of 13-6, while girls’ volleyball looked dominant during its 3-0 throttling of Fairfield. Go, Spartans! Scholarship Opportunity — Current juniors and seniors are eligible to apply for the TechLink Dual Enrollment Scholarship. Each camper enjoyed hands-on activities in four of the 19 technical programs that were offered. It was a huge thrill to watch participants discover new interests, master difficult tasks, and connect with peers from other schools! [Photos ] Ordering Uniforms — Parents and guardians are encouraged to order uniforms when the School Store reopens on June 17 to ensure they are in hand before the start of school. Specific uniform requirements for each program can be found by visiting ytech.edu/career-programs , clicking on a program name, and downloading the document located in the uniform section. Uniforms for technical program classes can be purchased through the School Store, while general York Tech gear can be purchased through the Fan Shop or the School Store. < Back Welding Teacher Job Type: Full Time Apply Now Job Overview & Description General Description: The Welding Teacher will be responsible for teaching high school students the skills and theory in the welding and metal fabrication curriculum Required Qualifications : The individual to be hired to the position of Welding Teacher must meet the following conditions and qualifications: PA CTE Teaching Certification in Welding strongly preferred. Noncertified candidates must have at least four years of full time (or equivalent) work experience within the field after their high school graduation date. Candidates not possessing PA teaching certification must be willing to complete required college coursework and testing requirements to obtain full certification. Evidence of completion of a formal welding training program strongly preferred. Knowledge of welding and metal fabrication supplies, equipment, and safety guidelines. Ability to communicate with a diverse group of students, parents, coworkers, and the community in a manner which demonstrates dignity and respect. The School reserves the right to excuse any applicant from meeting one or more of the listed qualification requirements, provided the applicant possesses other qualifications in addition to the minimum set forth herein, and that the School deems those qualifications to be an adequate and acceptable substitute for the particular qualification(s) not possessed by the applicant. Key Responsibilities: The Welding Teacher must have the ability to perform the following essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations: Instruct students in grades 9—12 in various aspects of welding and metal fabrication including but not limited to gas, arc, shielded and non-shielded metal arc, MIG and TIG, brazing, flame cutting and plastic welding. Hand, semi-automatic, and automatic welding processes components are included. Teach safety practices and types and uses of electrodes and welding rods; properties of metals; blueprint reading; electrical principles; welding symbols and mechanical drawing; use of equipment for testing welds by ultrasonic methods and destruction and hardness testing; use of manuals and specification charts; use of portable grinders and chemical baths for surface cleaning; positioning and clamping; and welding standards established by the American Welding Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and American Bureau of Ships. Create and implement lesson plans conforming to school requirements for content and/or format. Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grade reports as required. Create a positive environment conducive toward learning. Work cooperatively with other staff members and promote a cohesive team-based approach to the program and curriculum. Contact parents or guardians when necessary. Develop connections with local businesses and outside organizations to promote internships, sponsorships, and/or job placement. Attend school functions as required. Perform other duties as requested or assigned by the Principal or other appropriate administrator Physical/Environmental Demands: School and shop environment. Potential exposure to extreme temperatures, fumes, chemicals, smoke, loud noises, and unpleasant odors. Duties shall include classroom instruction, lesson plan design, progress monitoring, curriculum and content planning and collaboration with other culinary staff members. This may include, but is not limited to, food preparation, menu planning, nutrition, food resources, culinary skills, culinary culture and history, equipment and supplies, inventory, quality controls, costs and pricing, safety, and sanitation. Create and implement lesson plans conforming to school requirements for content and/or format. Maintain accurate records of student progress and submit grade reports as required. Create a positive environment conducive toward learning. Work cooperatively with other culinary program staff members and promote a cohesive team-based approach to the program and curriculum. Contact parents or guardians when necessary. Develop connections with local businesses and outside organizations to promote internships, sponsorships, and/or job placement. Attend school functions as required. Other professional duties as assigned. National Honor Society Description The four main purposes of the National Honor Society are to recognize the importance of education, encourage service, promote leadership, and develop character. Being a member of this organization is an honor and provides students with opportunities to further develop these characteristics.
